Phoenix Gamer Review : Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude
Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude Review
As a fan of the previous titles, I was looking forward to the release of this game. The game puts you in the role of Larry Loveage, Larry Laffer's nephew and his antics at college. Throughout the game you talk to girls via mini games, everything from a strip dance-off to taking pictures of a muscle man's crotch, both unique and disturbing. While the mini-games can be a bit frustrating, they are fun. The dialog is hilarious, the characters are very unique and fit in the environment very well. Now onto the review:
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics are incredible. The different levels are varied. I do, however, find it odd that Larry has such a large head and no one else does, oh well. The ladies are wonderfully animated and very...um, healthy. The graphics suit the nature of the game.
Music: 7/10
Hearing "Girls, Girls, Girls" once in a while is all well and good but after the 100th time, I'm sick of it.
Voice Acting: 8/10
The voice acting is very natural and sounds extremely genuine. The dialog is so funny, but finding a sexual innuendo in everything does get a little tired after a while.
Story: 9/10
As you know, a game without a good story, isn't worth it's weight in salt. This, thankfully is not the case in this game. The story has you competing on a game show to win a date the girl of your dreams/nightmares.
Replay Value: 8/10
There's a lot to do after you beat the game. Everything from getting the other two of the three endings, to finding the Porn Fairy and the infamous peephole. In the pause menu, you can get updated on your status and what percentage of the game you have completed.
Overall: 8/10 (Averaged)
Rent or Buy: Depends
If you're easily offended by sexually charged material, this game is not for you. But if you're a fan of the previous titles and like the story and premise, then it is prefect for your inner or obscenely obvious perverted self. Enjoy.
